Issue #003 - 28 February 2011

The Biggest Crowdfunding Mistake!

Crowdfunding is one of my best fundraising ideas. It's simple enough to set up, it's hassle free because you don't have to deal with any fundraising products or sell to supporters, and if done properly it will be extremely rewarding and successfully.

But most people that I see Crowdfunding make one major mistake... They seem to think that just by setting up a fundraising page is enough for them to get funded. WRONG!

The truth is you then need to proactively and effectively promote your Crowdfunder and your fundraising page for the duration of your campaign. You are not going to just be found. You need to make as many people as possible aware of your cause and how they can help out.

There are many different ways to promote your fundraiser, namely...

  • Contacting people directly.

  • Through Facebook.

  • Through Twitter.

  • Through Other Social Media.

  • Through your website or blog, and newsletter (if you have any of these).

  • By asking all your members, supporters, friends and family to firstly donate and then also spread the word further through their social networks.

  • By encouraging everyone to use the social media toolkit on your fundraising page.
  • Etc. Etc.

So if you intend to hold a Crowdfunder make sure that promote it effectively and give yourself the best chance of being funded. Read the Online Donation, part 2, for full advice on promoting your Crowdfunder properly!

And of course,YES, you still need to set your Crowdfunding campaign page up properly at Go Fund Me and write a connecting elevator pitch... But all that is futile if you don't follow it up with effective promoting!

So make sure you complete both steps to effective Crowdfunding!

And that's it for this week...

I really hope you have enjoyed reading the Fundraiser Buzz! weekly report, and I look forward to producing the next addition.

So do you have any...
